Last night we went to the England vs. Ghana football game with our friends from Texas. Final score 1 - 1. Wow, there was a huge crowd from Ghana completely decked out and more people with flags than without The Ghana cheering and jumping around was incredible considering this was only a 'friendly' match that meant nothing in terms of qualifying for any tournaments and England didn't even play its 5 best players (lame). What is the World Cup like then?! I can only imagine.
England fans were quite tame surprisingly in the sold out Wembley stadium with an attendence last night of 80,102. There was a large older English gentlemen drunk as a skunk who proceeded to watch most of the game with his shirt off shouting and waving his arms about. His best motions were him trying to essentially 'simmer down' the Ghana fans.
The game itself was good with England scorng in the first half and Ghana scoring after the 90th minute during stoppage time. That goal was a biiiig deal. Tying this game was equivalent to winning. The place erupted with people jumping and cheering for 10 minutes straight. As the game was then over, one of the Ghana players was running back and forward along the edge of the field carrying the flag and a group of players were in the middle of field dancing (one with shirt off -trend watch).
Really glad we went and seeing a game with a country that cared so much is definitely the way to go. Glad now that we ended up going to this game as opposed to England vs. Switzerland. Would not have been the same!
