This entry is purely procrastination and so the blog followers have something to follow, 'cause it's been a while!
Much has happened recently including my family coming to visit! You can see the pictures on Facebook. Was very glad to see they loved London so much and got to see where I am everyday. Nice when you can picture it! We gave them a good feel for the different neighborhoods, hit all three of the most popular weekend markets, Christmas Eve carol service at St. Paul's, lots of museums in Paris and pubs, pubs, pubs!!! That is what you have to do when you are out touring around all day and it's cold outside. It was really funny telling the French waiter that we were only doing appetizers because we were doing a pub crawl :) Out of all our tourist destinations the Tower of London and the Louvre were the hits. But everything else was awesome as well.
Jim and I also managed to make it to Chamonix, France for a ski trip in the Alps. Chamonix is known for extreme professional skiing so I was just thrilled to make it through the day in one unbroken piece, phew! After one failed attempt to make it out of London due to snow, we made it two days later. In the end, spent three full travel days for one day vacation but the Alps were still worth it. Highlights; Alps are gigantic, awesome shuttle bus driver to Chamonix from the Geneva airport telling us about the skiing and getting us discounts, chicken wings at the Canadian Microbrewery in France, cheese fondue, no waits on the chairlifts, our hostel roommates snoring like freight trains.
Can't believe it is 2011. Went to High Tea at the Ritz this afternoon with some girlfriends and got dressed up. It was beautiful in there and made me think of what it would be like being a French queen at Versailles in a fancy dining room everyday, haha. I want this year to be about doing tons of fun things like this and taking lots of trips. Along with this new year, I'm hoping comes a new job. My biggest worry is that the government is going to get in my way with the new UK visa caps they put in place....lammmme. Hopefully not, but it is exciting to start the process and having interviews. Boy I need interview practice! I had one on Friday that went okay. I'm really excited about this job but I won't find out if they can even offer me the job for a couple weeks. Still beating myself up for messing up an accounting technical question that I totally knew the answer to but blanked!!! Need to let it go, but more interview practice will at least help so I'm a pro when it's time to go back to the US. I'm going to apply to another position through a Marquette connection in London :) The coolest thing about the job I applied for on Friday was it would involve traveling all over the world. How incredible.
Mission until then, is not get fired from current job which means this blog post is finished. Happy Sunday and have a great week! Audit filing deadline tomorrow, eek.
Cheers,
Michelle
